Basketball Recap: Providence Athletic Club Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Brody Tyler and Mark Lara

Providence Athletic Club lost against South Charlotte back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Providence Athletic Club Panthers fell just short of the South Charlotte Thunder by a score of 54-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 194th in South Carolina, while the Thunder are ranked 474th in North Carolina).

Providence Athletic Club's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mark Lara, who went 10-for-19 to rack up 22 points and three steals, and Brody Tyler, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Lara continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Bult, who posted four points and eight boards.

South Charlotte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Kern, who scored 11 points. Gavin Hall was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Providence Athletic Club dropped their record down to 10-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for South Charlotte, their record is now 10-17.

Providence Athletic Club does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Charlotte, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-60 defeat against NC H on the 10th.
