Football Recap: Milton Falls Short Against Ranked Roswell + How To Watch

Milton faced Roswell in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 41-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered against the Hornets since September 14, 2018.

Despite the loss, Milton still got an impressive performance from Bentley Hickman, who rushed for 256 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Hickman's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Halevi, who threw for 143 yards and a pair of TDs.

While Milton came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Roswell: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Keelan Wonsley and Lawson Estes, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Milton; they were averaging 57.6%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 57.6%.

Trey Smith had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 190 yards and four scores, while also throwing for 119 yards on 12 of 24 attempts for Roswell. That's the most rushing yards Smith has posted since back in October of 2024.

Milton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3. As for Roswell, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Milton and Roswell will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Eagles see the field they'll take on Shiloh at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. As for Roswell, their break will end when they face Chamblee at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
