Football Game Preview: Batavia Blue Devils vs. Monroe Red Jackets

The Batavia Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Monroe Red Jackets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Batavia has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Monroe will come in with six straight wins.

Batavia might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 34-12 to East, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Monroe against Honeoye Falls-Lima on Friday as the team secured a 38-7 victory. Considering the Red Jackets have won five contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Monroe's win came down to the chemistry between Pooty Cunningham and his top target Messiah Hampton. Cunningham threw for 254 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes while Hampton gained 151 total yards and three touchdowns. Hampton also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Anthony Omebe was in the mix as well, providing Monroe with one score.

Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Batavia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Batavia was dealt a bruising 40-0 defeat at the hands of Monroe when the teams last played back in September of 2023. Thankfully for the Blue Devils, Khaya Moses (who threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt) won't be suiting up this time.
