Recap: Riverbend Bears vs. Brooke Point Black Hawks

The Riverbend Bears posted their biggest win since December 6, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Brooke Point 69-43. Given Riverbend's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Brooke Point is ranked 368th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hannah Alexander was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Mullinax, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.

Riverbend pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Brooke Point, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverbend will take on Massaponax at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Massaponax is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Brooke Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Stafford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
