Basketball Recap: Falkner Comes Up Short

Falkner saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 63-55 to the Mount Paran Christian Eagles. Falkner has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Falkner still got an impressive performance from Elijah Mauney, who went 10 for 20 on his way to 27 points and five rebounds. The game was Mauney's third in a row with at least ten points. Chris Nunley was another key player, putting up 14 points and five steals.

Leading Mount Paran Christian to victory were Cameron Hewling and Shane Goines. Hewling went 8 of 10 on his way to 17 points, while Goines went 8 of 11 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Farrell, who posted seven points.

Falkner now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Mount Paran Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Falkner and Mantachie will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Mount Paran Christian and Wenonah will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
