Basketball Recap: Capuchino Takes a Loss

Capuchino was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the San Mateo Bearcats, falling 72-37. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 893rd, while the Bearcats are ranked 228th).

San Mateo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zidane Auzarang out in front who went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Auzarang's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bryan Ehlerman, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points.

Capuchino's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for San Mateo, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Capuchino has already played their next contest, a 59-56 win against Harker on the 18th. As for San Mateo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-46 victory against Washington on the 20th.
