Softball Recap: Wesley Chapel Gets the Win

Wesley Chapel had won three straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 11-10 to make it four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cypress Creek Coyotes, sneaking past 4-3. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jazmin Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Wesley Chapel's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kendall McCants, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Wesley Chapel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

As for Cypress Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Cypress Creek's side, Taylor Fuglesang made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Fuglesang has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Regan, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wesley Chapel will host Sumner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cypress Creek, they will welcome Zephyrhills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coyotes are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
