Softball Recap: San Marino Takes a Loss

San Marino extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-17 in the process. They came up short against the South Pasadena Tigers, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Titans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kayla Giddings was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played.

As for South Pasadena, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On South Pasadena's side, Lucia Atencio tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, South Pasadena let Brooke Zeisler and Andrea Becerra run wild. Zeisler went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Becerra went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Becerra a new career-high. Gemma Converse also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As of now, neither San Marino nor South Pasadena have any future games scheduled.
