North Country Union waltzed into their game on Monday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They blew past the Lake Region Rangers, posting a 49-16 victory. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Rangers are ranked 33rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Country Union pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points over those games. As for Lake Region, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

North Country Union will face off against U-32 at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Region, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lamoille at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lamoille knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Lake Region likes a good challenge.
