Baseball Recap: Union City Has No Trouble Against Franklin Monroe

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Knightstown, Union City was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Franklin Monroe Jets. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Union City got a massive performance out of Luke Collins, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Collins a new career-high. Trendon Spence was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Union City's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Franklin Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union City will venture away from home to square off against Seton Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Franklin Monroe, they are taking a road trip to take on Lehman Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
