Volleyball Recap: Elizabeth Nerio's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bell over Roosevelt

If Bell was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Huntington Park on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roosevelt Rough Riders on Monday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rough Riders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-23, 23-25, 25-12.

Bell lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elizabeth Nerio, who had 16 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Kaley Munoz went supernova For Roosevelt., getting ten aces and seven digs. That's the most digs Munoz has posted over her last two contests. Natalie Vasquez was another key player, getting 16 digs.

Bell's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Roosevelt, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Bell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against South East on the 24th. As for Roosevelt, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Huntington Park at 4:00 p.m.
