Basketball Recap: Churchill County Falls Despite Big Games from Barry Mitchell and Calin Anderson

Churchill County came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lowry Buckaroos by a score of 65-63 on Friday. It was the first time this season that the Greenwave let down their fans at home.

Churchill County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Calin Anderson, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds, and Barry Mitchell, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Edgmon, who posted six points.

Jaden Jimenez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lowry, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Jimenez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kayd Garner, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Churchill County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Lowry, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9.

Churchill County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-55 win against Wooster on the 11th. As for Lowry, they will face off against Dayton at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Lowry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
