Softball Recap: Cedarville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Cedarville had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Catholic Central Irish 14-2 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the match before.

Joscelyn Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cedarville got a massive performance out of Chloe Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Reed, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Cedarville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cedarville's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Catholic Central, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Cedarville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Irish: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
