Basketball Recap: Wes-Del Finds Playoff Glory Versus Southern Wells

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wes-Del had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They blew past the Southern Wells Raiders, posting a 71-39 win. The Warriors have beaten the Raiders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.

Wes-Del got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Love out in front who went 12-for-18 en route to 28 points. The match was Love's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Julian Carpenter, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

Wes-Del was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They are 9-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the defeat, Southern Wells saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Johnson posted 20 points. Joshua Aulbach was another key player, putting up six points.

Wes-Del's record is now 10-12. As for Southern Wells, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Looking ahead, Wes-Del will face off against Daleville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wes-Del will be up against Daleville's rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.76 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Southern Wells does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
