Softball Recap: Northside Patriots vs. Jackson Jaguars
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northside had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Jackson Jaguars as they made off with an 18-3 win. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on 25 straight.
Loreal Byrd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she also racked up four strikeouts, the mostshe's had since back in October of 2023. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and a triple.
In other batting news, Kassidy Anderson was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits. Bailee Davis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Northside's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-2. As for Jackson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
