Softball Recap: Moriarty Comes Up Short

After flying high against Santa Rosa on Friday, Moriarty came back down to earth. The Pintos came up short against the Belen Eagles on Saturday, falling 20-3. The Pintos haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Emma Rodriguez and Bella Maldonado stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Maldonado went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Moriarty's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Belen, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-9.

Moriarty has already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Espanola Valley on the 1st. As for Belen, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-1 loss against St. Pius X on the 31st.
