Recap: Tocoi Creek Toros vs. Orange Park Raiders
Winning is just a little bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Tocoi Creek Toros proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Orange Park by a score of 52-41.
Tocoi Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabi Iturralde out in front who scored 17 points along with three steals. Iturralde has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlynn Weaver, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Orange Park's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mychaela Parker, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds, and Piera Alexander who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hailey Revak, who scored six points.
Tocoi Creek's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Orange Park, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tocoi Creek's road trip will continue as they head out to face Calvary Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Calvary Christian Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Orange Park, they will head out on the road to challenge Ocoee at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Ocoee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday.
