Baseball Recap: Tabernacle Christian Takes a Loss

Tabernacle Christian had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it 12. They lost 23-2 to the Faith Christian Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 back in March.

As for Faith Christian, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 17-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season.

For Faith Christian's part, Mason Taylor and Austin Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Taylor tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Smith pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Taylor got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Smith got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Taylor has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Brown, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Tabernacle Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Faith Christian, they have already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Wilson Christian Academy on the 6th.
