Football Recap: Manatee Falls Short of East Lake in the Playoffs

Manatee and East Lake squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Manatee had to settle for second. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 two weeks ago.

Arionna Carter threw for 45 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Ariyana Kirksey was her top target, picking up 51 receiving yards. On the ground, Denylah Smalls rushed for 29 yards.

The critical scores for East Lake came from Mia Melton and Calie Brumett.

Manatee's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for East Lake, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4.

Manatee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Lake, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 27-6 loss against East Bay on the 1st.
