Baseball Recap: Selma Saints vs. Dallas County Hornets
Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-5 to the Dallas County Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 18-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.
Venetris Eaton was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Samarion Woods also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Selma's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Dallas County, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.
Looking ahead, Selma will host Hatch at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.43 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dallas County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Billingsley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
