It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the East Columbus Gators had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-53 victory over the Hurricanes. East Columbus is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 17 straight.

East Columbus found their leader in underclassman Malia J. Graham, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 19 rebounds. J. Graham has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Malayah Hines was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Pamlico County saw an underclassman step up: Sydney Whitley-Reese scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyliyah Barber, who scored nine points along with three steals.

East Columbus pushed their record up to 25-1 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game.
