Basketball Recap: Berkeley Prep Comes Up Short

Berkeley Prep was the 65-42 winner over Calvary Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers fell just short of the Calvary Christian Warriors by a score of 54-52 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Warriors are ranked 32nd).

Calvary Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Bergantino, who posted 19 points. The contest was Bergantino's third in a row with at least ten points. Ethan Sabec was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Berkeley Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Berkeley Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-40 win against Winter Haven on the 4th. Calvary Christian has also already played their next contest, a 71-64 victory against East Lake on the 4th.
