Baseball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was the 3-2 winner over Unioto when they last played one another back in March of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Shermans by a score of 8-6 on Saturday.

Isaiah Arocho was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of David Sharp, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Unioto, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Athens will square off against Wellston at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Unioto, they will take on Zane Trace at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
