Softball Recap: Weaver Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Weaver hadn't done well against Piedmont recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Weaver Bearcats came out on top against the Piedmont Bulldogs by a score of 9-5. For the Bearcats, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Reyleigh Partner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Weaver got a massive performance out of Caitlyn Edmonson, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Stevie McGinnis, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Weaver pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs over those games. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Weaver will head out on the road to challenge Ashville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Piedmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hokes Bluff at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
