Volleyball Recap: Torrey Pines Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with San Clemente

On Friday, Torrey Pines faced San Clemente in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Torrey Pines Falcons fell just short of the San Clemente Tritons by a score of 2-1. The loss was the Falcons' first of the season.

Bjorn Hawe paced Torrey Pines' offense, picking up 12 kills. Hawe got some help from Beckett Ribeiro-Greenbaum and his 21 assists. Ribeiro-Greenbaum was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Torrey Pines fell to 3-1. As for San Clemente, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Torrey Pines wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Newport Harbor on the 8th. As for San Clemente, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Tesoro on the 8th.
