Volleyball Recap: East Falls Short Against Ranked Thunder Basin + How To Watch

East faced Thunder Basin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thunderbirds came up short against the Bolts, falling 3-0. The Thunderbirds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bolts earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

While East ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.

Gabby Alvarado and Mckenna Waters certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Alvarado had 15 digs, while Waters had five digs and two aces. Alvarado is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Thunder Basin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reece McGrath, who had 16 digs and two assists. Traecyn Hilliard was another key player, getting six digs and two aces.

East has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-14 record this season. As for Thunder Basin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

East will challenge South at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thunder Basin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Central on the 18th.
