Basketball Recap: Steven Reynolds' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Bend Washington over Mishawaka Marian

If South Bend Washington was feeling good fresh off their 82-58 takedown of Jimtown last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Bend Washington Panthers took a hard 66-51 fall against the Mishawaka Marian Knights on Friday. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

South Bend Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Steven Reynolds, who posted 14 points and four blocks. Reynolds is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Burgin, who put up ten points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mishawaka Marian to victory, but perhaps none more so than William Owens, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Owens is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Prescott Horvath, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

South Bend Washington's record is now 11-3. As for Mishawaka Marian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
