Softball Recap: South Bronx Community Extends Winning Streak to Five

South Bronx Community came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Varsity Opponent with a sharp 18-3 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Delilah Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs but no hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

In other batting news, South Bronx Community got a massive performance out of Adriana Gomez, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave Gomez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Calesha Moosue, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

South Bronx Community's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
