Preview: Affton Cougars vs. Hickman Kewpies
Affton has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Hickman Kewpies at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Affton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Hickman is ranked 14th).
While it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Affton was not quite Hazelwood Central's equal in the second half on Thursday. Affton fell 43-30 to Hazelwood Central.
Affton's defeat came about despite a quality game from Anna M daughtry, who scored 11 points along with seven steals. M daughtry is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Hickman waltzed into their game last Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They put the hurt on Eureka with a sharp 55-31 win. Hickman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Affton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Hickman, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
