Recap: Whitney RVT Owls vs. Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens
The Whitney RVT Owls lost against the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens back in February of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Whitney RVT was dealt a 59-15 loss at the hands of Academy of Science and Innovation. Whitney RVT was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-5.
Leading Academy of Science and Innovation to victory were Symber Ortiz-Sutton and Maiara Rodriguez. Ortiz-Sutton scored 21 points along with five steals, while Rodriguez dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Rodriguez has scored at least 25% of Academy of Science and Innovation's points. Another player making a difference was Karina Falcon, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Whitney RVT bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Whitney RVT will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wilcox RVT at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Academy of Science and Innovation will finish 2023 at home by hosting Terryville at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
