League recap: Willow Springs scores huge upset over Ava

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Willow Springs, who took down 181st ranked Ava, 28-17.

Jaelon Acklin and James Denton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Houston. The connection was good for 60 yards, the longest such play in South Central this season.

Liberty's dynamic duo of Acklin and Denton proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Acklin threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns and Denton had 106 yards receiving. Jansen Acklin helped Liberty's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.

Tyler Collins was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 161 yards on 26 carries as Mountain Grove defeated Houston. Teammate Bobby Otwell added to the ground attack by rushing for 101 yards.

On the ground, the Panthers' Collins has rushed for 1233 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Levi Hargrove. The Thayer star has 40 catches for 602 yards.

A big matchup in South Central this week will be when Liberty takes on Billy O'Neil's team. Darin Acklin's team is in second place, while the Tigers are in seventh place.

Mountain Grove extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Thayer, 34-14. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
