Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lexington Griffin and Latrevius Gant Lead University to Victory

University won the last time they faced Memphis Rise Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers strolled past Memphis Rise Academy with points to spare, taking the game 64-45. The win was just business as usual for the Tigers, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Leading University to victory were LaTrevius Gant and Lexington Griffin. Gant shot 44% from the field to rack up 23 points and eight rebounds, while Griffin went 6-for-10 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Those eight boards gave Gant a new career-high. Nicholas Johnson was another key player, putting up six points.

Memphis Rise Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ta'Varreo Smith, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Darius Gates, who went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points.

University's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, University will face off against Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Memphis Rise Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-54 win against Compass - Midtown on the 5th.
