Basketball Recap: Bel Air Takes a Loss

If Bel Air was feeling good fresh off their 51-20 takedown of Mountain View on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highlanders had to suffer through a 67-31 loss at the hands of the Franklin Cougars. The Highlanders have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Janiyah Monarez and Ciara Acosta certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Monarez dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards, while Acosta posted seven points and five rebounds. Acosta has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Franklin found their leader in sophomore Allison De La O, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points and seven steals. Isabella Lee was another key player, putting up nine points along with five assists and five steals.

Bel Air's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Franklin, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Bel Air has already played their next contest, a 42-37 victory against El Dorado on the 13th. As for Franklin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 70-35 defeat against Wakeland on the 13th.
