Baseball Game Preview: Midland Mustangs vs. West Side Eagles

The Midland Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the West Side Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Midland's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last 12 matchups.

Midland came out on top against Heber Springs on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run first inning. The Mustangs blew past the Panthers 19-7. Considering the Mustangs have won 15 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Hayden Jackson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Bozeman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Midland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, West Side came up short against Rose Bud on Thursday and fell 11-7. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Midland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for West Side, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Midland came out on top in a nail-biter against West Side in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
