Basketball Game Preview: Lexington Golden Bears vs. Rogers Pirates

Lexington is 1-9 against Rogers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lexington Golden Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Rogers Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-36, which was the final score in Lexington's tilt against Lauderdale County on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Rogers came up short against Colbert County on Saturday and fell 55-42. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Lexington beat Rogers 51-42 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lexington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
