Volleyball Recap: Wheeling Central Catholic Comes Up Short

After flying high against Columbiana last Thursday, Wheeling Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Maroon Knights lost 3-0 to the Tyler Knights on Wednesday. The Maroon Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

While Wheeling Central Catholic had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-22.

Remy Peters paced Wheeling Central Catholic's offense, picking up nine kills. Peters got some help from Lainey Peters and her 14 assists. Lainey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Wheeling Central Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season. As for Tyler, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-8.

Coming up, Wheeling Central Catholic will take on Oak Glen at 10:00 a.m. on the 25th. As for Tyler, they will face off against Gilmer County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
