The Buffalo Grove Bison will face off against the Prospect Knights at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Buffalo Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Warren Township on Saturday as they made off with a 12-6 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bison considering their one-run performance the match before.
Jordan Dudek was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Rocco Perricone, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Buffalo Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Prospect won against Wheeling on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Knights blew past Bartlett 9-3. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Evan Mantas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Louie Caldrone, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Nordentoft, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Prospect's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Buffalo Grove, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13-2.
Buffalo Grove took their victory against Prospect in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
