Baseball Recap: La Salle Academy Takes Down Ranked Cranston West

La Salle Academy faced Cranston West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Rams walked away with a 4-1 win over the Falcons. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Matt Destefanis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Collins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nico Santomaro also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

La Salle Academy pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Cranston West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
