Baseball Recap: Philip Barbour Takes Down Ranked Petersburg

Philip Barbour faced Petersburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Colts came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-1. The Colts have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Kale Wolfe was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Kent Rowan was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

The win (which was Philip Barbour's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Petersburg, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2.

Looking ahead, Philip Barbour will challenge Tucker County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Petersburg, they will face off against South Harrison at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
