Baseball Recap: Cardinal Mooney Snags 11th Victory in Last 14 Games

After only two runs in their last contest, Cardinal Mooney made sure to put some runs up on the board against West Branch on Tuesday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Warriors. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Ford Stacy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Cardinal Mooney got a massive performance out of Johnny Brenner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Brenner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Bushey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Cardinal Mooney has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for West Branch, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Coming up, Cardinal Mooney will welcome Hubbard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Branch, they will head out to square off against Ursuline at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
