Basketball Recap: Northwest Halifax Takes a Loss

Northwest Halifax lost against Wilson Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Northwest Halifax Vikings came up short against the Wilson Prep Tigers, falling 77-57. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Tigers are ranked 146th).

Keontae Barron continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wilson Prep, going 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points along with seven steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Barron is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Elijah Newsome was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six assists and six steals.

Northwest Halifax's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Wilson Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Halifax will square off against Southeast Halifax at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilson Prep has already played their next contest (against Warren County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
