Baseball Recap: Avalon Drops Season-High Score on Sandy Spring Friends

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avalon). They blew past the Sandy Spring Friends Wildebeests 14-7 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Black Knights in their matchups with the Wildebeests: they've now won six in a row.

Judah Knight made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ethan Stepanik was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Guarion Rodriguez was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Avalon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Avalon's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Sandy Spring Friends, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avalon will head out to take on Southern Maryland Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sandy Spring Friends, they will venture away from home to square off against Spencerville Adventist Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
