Preview: South-Doyle Cherokees vs. Heritage Mountaineers
South-Doyle has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Heritage Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, South-Doyle beat Lenoir City 62-57.
It was another big night for Payton Rollins, who scored 31 points along with five steals. The game was her eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Heritage put another one in the bag last Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Maryville 61-38. Given Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Maryville is ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South-Doyle's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Heritage, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
