The Mars Hill Bible Panthers will square off against the Colbert Heights Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mars Hill Bible 3.4, Colbert Heights 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mars Hill Bible will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Sheffield on Monday. The Panthers blew past the Bulldogs 17-2. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lila Embry was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Stegall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Colbert Heights fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Florence on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2.
Addison Holcomb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, Colbert Heights saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenzie Gann, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Mars Hill Bible's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Colbert Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 21-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mars Hill Bible has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Colbert Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
