Softball Game Preview: Port Washington Pirates vs. Homestead Highlanders

The Port Washington Pirates will head out to challenge the Homestead Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Port Washington has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Port Washington came up short against Hartford and fell 15-10. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Orioles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Libby Bates made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Shelby Cash was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Homestead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 6-1 to Slinger.

Homestead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmy Sehnert, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Homestead's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Port Washington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. It's a different story for Homestead, though, as they've only averaged .326. Will they be able to contain Port Washington's hitters?
