Football Recap: South Forsyth War Eagles vs. Campbell Spartans
If South Forsyth was riding high fresh off their 36-14 takedown of South Cobb last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The War Eagles came up short against the Campbell Spartans on Friday, falling 42-19. The War Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
Will Watkins threw for 79 yards on nine of 19 attempts. Ryan Stanley was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards.
Campbell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davin Lemire led the charge by throwing for 276 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 62 yards on only six carries. Those 276 passing yards gave Lemire a new career-high. Campbell's leading receiver Nick Buggs was Lemire's top target yet again, picking up 134 receiving yards and two scores, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.
South Forsyth's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Campbell, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
South Forsyth didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 31-10 win against Riverwood on the 29th. As for Campbell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 34-29 victory against Etowah on the 29th.
