Softball Recap: Grace Christian Starts off Right with Win over GRACE Christian

Grace Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the GRACE Christian Eagles with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Hayley Pugh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 11 hits. Pugh was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victoria Thomas, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Abby Carville was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Grace Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as GRACE Christian only posted an OBP of .400.

Looking ahead, Grace Christian will head out to take on Harrells Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for GRACE Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thales Academy Rolesville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
