Softball Recap: United Comes Up Short

United extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They came up short against the Conemaugh Township Indians, falling 16-1. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Conemaugh Township's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Conemaugh Township's part, Taylor Jarvis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Jarvis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Lena Dull and Jema Calasara did most of the damage at the plate: Dull went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Calasara went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Calasara a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Lasure, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

While United had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
