Basketball Recap: Satellite Takes a Loss

Satellite lost against Bayside back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Satellite Scorpions lost to the Bayside Bears at home by a 48-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Bears are ranked 133rd).

Despite the defeat, Satellite saw an underclassman step up: freshman Halyn Hargis posted 13 points. That was a full 39.4% of Satellite's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Bayside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donia Moaoui, who had 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Angelina Spence, who earned eight points along with seven boards and five steals.

Satellite has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Bayside, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-7.

Satellite wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 42-33 win against Eau Gallie on the 22nd. As for Bayside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-23 victory against Edgewood on the 23rd.
