Softball Recap: Northview Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against Washburn

Northview Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 18-10 to the Washburn Pirates on Monday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Abigail Doty stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Zoee Russell was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

The win snapped Washburn's losing streak at 15 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-2 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northview Academy will face off against Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview Academy is facing Seymour at the right time seeing as Seymour is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Washburn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland Gap at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
